Since it’s the start of a new year, I decided to find some inspirational quotes to look upon as a guide for 2014. I’ll look at these in times of stress, especially throughout this last semester of college and finding a job at a company I love. Don’t be afraid to take these quotes and put them on your dream board, inspiration wall, or even as a sticky note on your bathroom mirror! So without further ado, five inspirational quotes for 2014:
1. “One of the most courageous things you can do is identify yourself, know who you are, what you believe in and where you want to go.” — Sheila Murray Bethel
I think one of the most wonderful things about going to college and searching for a job is finding out who you are, your beliefs, your fears, your dreams, and your inspirations. Knowing who you are will be important in finding the best fit for a job.
2. “You are more powerful than you know; you are beautiful just as you are.” — Melissa Etheridge
This is for those moments when life just gets you down and makes you feel powerless and unwanted. You are beautiful in every single way, no matter what.
3. “You can do anything, but not everything.” -David Allen
I don’t know about you, but I have a tendency to want to do everything possible and make everything work. I’ll usually take on too much work in a group project or in my sorority and things get out of balance. This is a good reminder to slow down and prioritize.
4. “Be Silly, Be Honest, Be Kind” – Unknown
This is pretty self-explanatory, but it’s a good life motto.
5. “Great things never came from comfort zones.” – Unknown
Being in your comfort zone is nice, but when you take a step out you can learn a lot about yourself, your company, or an industry. I left my comfort zone in 2010 when I moved to a city 800 miles from home without knowing a single person. Taking a step outside of the comfort zone is the beginning to a great experience.
These five quotes will be my guide for 2014 as I navigate cities, jobs, and college. 2014 is already off to a great start and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year will bring! What is your favorite inspirational quote?
